2021 Fortinet Championship: Top 10 power rankings at Silverado
Cameron Tringale capped off his best season on the PGA Tour by advancing to the second leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, the BMW Championship.
While the 34-year-old veteran would have loved to squeeze his first win out of it, there’s still a lot to take pride in. Tringale recorded three top-10s, including T-3rd at the Valspar Championship.
The former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket only missed six cuts in the 2020-21 campaign, half of which came in a seven-week span.
Tringale enters the Fortinet Championship with four straight made cuts and four top-30s in his last five outings.
He was proficient around the cup last season. Tringale ranked 29th in strokes gained around the green (.242) and 16th in SG putting (.48). Iron play was solid, too, at 42nd in SG approach (.363).
Tringale will be a factor if he can consistently get short wedges into greens this week. He was 17th in proximity from 50-125 yards (16’7”).
He was eighth in scrambling (64.37%) and 25th in sand saves (57.55%).
The Californian has never missed this event since it arrived to Silverado in 2014. He’s made five cuts in seven tries highlighted by T-26th (69-69-73-71) in 2014.
It’s far from a home game as Tringale is from Mission Viejo, some seven hours south of Napa. I still like him to find some level of comfort and post his best finish at this venue.
The streak of most starts on the PGA Tour without his first win will continue, but Tringale is a good choice for a DFS lineup this week.
