2021 Ryder Cup: Power ranking the top 10 players at Whistling Straits
Rory McIlroy bridges the gap between the old guard on the European team of the likes of Lee Westwood, Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter, etc. with younger bloods like Viktor Hovland.
McIlroy has a win in 2021 at the Wells Fargo Championship. He and his fans expected more trophies, but his poorer performances are still well above tour average.
The Northern Irishman has four top-14s in his last five starts.
McIlroy finished 17th at the 2015 PGA Championship with rounds of 71-71-68-69.
The 32-year-old should be ripe to pick Whistling Straits apart with his driving proficiency and aggressiveness. McIlroy finished fourth on the PGA Tour last season in strokes gained off the tee (.66) and first in birdie average (4.51). He gained strokes in every category and would seem to be a great fit in fourballs and alternate shot.
McIlroy is 11-9-4 in the Ryder Cup with a 2-2-1 record in singles, 4-3-2 in foursomes and 5-4-1 in fourballs.
