2021 Sanderson Farms Championship: Top 10 power rankings at Country Club of Jackson
Two out of three starts for Sungjae Im at the Sanderson Farms Championship resulted in a top-30 finish. It seems like that’s the case at any event he plays.
Mr. Consistent was a little off pace in 2021 from his first two full years on the PGA Tour, but he still earned himself a lot of cash.
Recent form leading up to Mississippi saw him end the 2020-21 season strong with a solo third finish at the BMW Championship to punch his ticket to East Lake.
He owns four top-25s in a row and has five in the last six events. The South Korean star hasn’t missed a cut since the Memorial Tournament in early June.
Im missed the cut at his Sanderson debut in 2018. He must have figured a few things out prior to his return. Im finished solo second in 2019 with rounds of 68-69-67-66. Sebastian Munoz outdueled Im in a playoff.
Im finished 21st or better that week in all strokes gained categories, including sixth tee to green (8.767). The rare times he was out of position, it didn’t matter. Im was T-4th in scrambling at a robust 85.71%.
Im posted 71-70-72-66 to grab T-28th in 2020.
The 23-year-old finished 16th on the PGA Tour last season in strokes gained off the tee (.526) and gained strokes in all categories except for around the green.
The fairways aren’t too hard to hit at Country Club of Jackson. Nonetheless, accuracy like Im’s (11th driving accuracy, 69.12%) is still valuable.
