Kevin Streelman has flashed some of the best golf of his career this year at age 42. While Streels hasn’t reeled in a win, he’s done about everything else.

Streelman struggled at the majors for years until 2021. The former Duke Blue Devil did not qualify for the Masters, then proceeded to finish top-20 at the next three, including T-8th at the PGA Championship.

Nine of his 21 starts thus far resulted in top-25s. Streelman is on a streak of four straight made cuts, highlighted by T-7th at the Wyndham Championship.

In an era where big hitters are becoming more and more prolific, Streels is still showing plodders like him can still get it going. He’s missed just four cuts in 2021.

Streelman gained strokes in every category last season on the PGA Tour except for putting, where he lost a meager -0.08 per round. He was up to 33rd in SG approach (.433) and additionally was 23rd in greens in regulation (69.21%).

Strong iron play is important to attack Country Club of Jackson’s small greens.

Streelman arrives to Mississippi where he’s had success. His first five visits resulted in three top-20s. Streelman finished T-18th (63-73-71-71) in 2016, T-10th (71-69-71-69) in 2017 and T-4th (72-67-69-64) in 2019.

He was sixth in the field in 2019 in SG putting (7.292 total) and 12th in scrambling (77.78%). Approach play wasn’t dialed in here that year, but with it in better shape now, it could be the difference to help Streelman notch the third win of his career and first since 2014.
