Corey Conners has made three of four cuts at the Sanderson Farms Championship and nearly won his first career PGA Tour event a year early in 2018.

That year, the Canadian finished in second place with rounds of 71-68-64-68. He was also under par every round in 2020 and was only four shots off the lead going into Sunday en route to T-17th (67-70-69-70) in 2020.

Conners won a year later in 2019 at the Valero Texas Open. It’s surprising he hasn’t won again since, but there’s no doubt he’s established himself as a world class player.

The Kent State alum racked up four top-10s early in 2021, including T-8th at the Masters. Conners finished top-20 in three majors and played well throughout the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Conners recorded T-8th at The Northern Trust and T-22nd at the BMW Championship to advance to the Tour Championship where he also was T-22nd (T-17th gross score).

Conners was on the International Presidents Cup team in 2019 and got to represent Canada this summer at the Olympics where he finished a respectable 13th.

I’d be surprised if he isn’t on the Pres Cup squad again in 2022.

The 29-year-old has carved out a nice career in large part due to his elite ball striking. Conners ranked 12th in strokes gained tee to green (1.15) last season on the PGA Tour despite a short game that is still developing.

He was eighth in SG off the tee (.625) and ninth in SG approach (.698).
