Questions around Brooks Koepka’s injured wrist swirled leading up to the Ryder Cup. While he still may not be 100%, he fit in well on the American team to post a 2-2-0 record with a 2&1 win against Bernd Wiesberger.

Koepka now comes to an event where he’s had success in the Shriners Children’s Open. It’s been a while, though.

Koepka’s last appearance came in 2016 when he fired 62-67-70-67 to finish solo second two shots behind Rod Pampling.

The Florida State alum shot 69-68-64-68 for T-4th in his tournament debut as a young pro in 2014.

“I think it suits my game,” Koepka was transcribed by ASAP Sports in 2014. “I think it helps long hitters. I think you’ve seen a lot of long hitters play well here in the past, and it works well for me. I like to shape the ball, so it’s a good setup for me. It suits my eye.”

This is Koepka’s first event of the 2021-22 PGA Tour season. He withdrew from the Tour Championship in his last individual outing citing his injured wrist.

Prior to that,  the 31-year-old was on a solid run of form this summer. He had a streak of four top-sixes in five starts, three of which came at majors.

He also posted a respectable T-31st to open the FedEx Cup Playoffs at The Northern Trust and T-22nd at the BMW Championship to advance to East Lake.

Koepka ranked eighth on the PGA Tour last season in total strokes gained (1.357) and showed more consistency in 2021. He also won at another desert course, TPC Scottsdale, at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

BK was seventh in SG off the tee (.631) and will look to bludgeon his way to another high result at TPC Summerlin.
