Scottie Scheffler is one of the rare players to win a Ryder Cup point before winning a PGA Tour tournament. The 25-year-old is embarking on his third full season on the PGA Tour and looks to continue the incredible consistency he’s displayed throughout his career despite a trophy to show for it.

Scheffler is a well-rounded player who has been a can’t-miss-kid since his junior days. That was on display when he teamed with Bryson DeChambeau for 1.5 points in two fourballs sessions.

Scheffler built up more street cred when he steamrolled Jon Rahm 4&3 in singles. Rahm went 3-0-1 in team play with his halved match also against Scheffler/DeChambeau.

Prior to the Ryder Cup, Scheffler’s last outing was at the Tour Championship, which he qualified for for the second straight year. He finished middle of the pack there, but had a solid T-22nd at the BMW Championship and T-43rd at The Northern Trust to make it a reasonably productive FedEx Cup Playoffs run.

The former Texas Longhorn has made his last six cuts worldwide as well as 12 of the last 13.

Scheffler’s making his third Shriners Children’s Open appearance. He finished T-74th in 2019 and missed the cut by one in 2020 despite rounds of 69-67.

He ranked 17th last season on the PGA Tour in strokes gained off the tee (.515). Scheffler was in the positive in all SG categories and was 21st tee to green (.909).

A reason he was such a good fit for Ryder Cup fourballs was his ability to post red numbers. He was seventh in 2020-21 in birdie average (4.39).
