Justin Thomas has a propensity to feast on limited field events like these.

He mourns the loss of the CIMB Classic, a now defunct event he won back-to-back in 2015-16. JT also has two World Golf Championship wins and two FedEx Cup Playoffs wins.

I’m burying the lede that he’s also won two CJ Cups, though those were both at Nine Bridges in 2017 and 2019.

Thomas can win full field events, too. His 2021 was highlighted by a Players Championship trophy. Not to mention, he posted a 2-1-1 record at the Ryder Cup to do his part in helping the Americans take back the trophy.

Thomas routed Tyrrell Hatton 4&3 in Sunday singles and was joined at the hip with familiar partner, Jordan Spieth, in a successful stint in team play.

The 28-year-old comes to The Summit Club rested for his first event of the 2021-22 PGA Tour season. Thomas’ last individual event was the Tour Championship where he finished fourth. This was his fifth straight top-30 and 10th straight top-50.

The former Alabama Crimson Tide ranked third last season in strokes gained approach (.887). He was also third in SG tee to green (.418). Thomas had a sub-100 season putting and was wayward with the driver. If he gets even just one of those two things sorted out, he’s right there to return to his pace of multiple wins per year. Get both back in good standing, and there’s no reason he can’t return to number one in the world.
