The last couple starts withstanding, Si Woo Kim has been playing pretty solid golf over the last couple months.

The recent hot stretch nearly began with a win as he posted T-2nd as a past champion at the Wyndham Championship. Later, Kim rattled off T-29th, T-11th and T-8th all in a row.

The T-29th was the BMW Championship and nearly was good enough to get him into the Tour Championship. Kim was 30th in regular season FedEx Cup points and was 34th after the BMW.

Now, he’s among the contingent this week that have the advantage of already competing at this week’s host venue, Narashino Country Club. The South Korean posted T-37th at the 2019 Zozo Championship on his home continent.

He edged out Chan Kim for “low Kim” honors by one shot, for what that’s worth.

Si Woo Kim was fortunate the Zozo is a no-cut event because his opening 76 would have been tough to overcome. Fortunately, he was one of the best in the field over the final 54 holes, closing in 67-66-69 to salvage T-37th.

Kim can be a hot and cold player. His temper can cost him at times. His highs are high, though, as he’s got three PGA Tour wins already by age 26.

The Yonsei University alum was fourth on the PGA Tour in 2020-21 in strokes gained around the green (.467) and 54th in SG off the tee (.223).

It’s a more risky pick among the others in the top 10, but I like Kim’s potential here against a weak field.
