It’s within the right of fans to be disappointed in Tommy Fleetwood. The promising Englishman is thrice a winner on the European Tour and thrice a top-five finisher in majors over his career.

Unfortunately for he and his contingency, the results have been lacking over the last couple years. The pandemic hasn’t made things easy on European players, particularly those who play on the PGA Tour. Nonetheless, he would be the first to tell you his play ought to improve.

It does seem like he is on an uptick in 2021 starting this summer. The 30-year-old has made nine straight cuts between the two tours and contended for the title at the DS Automobiles Italian Open this fall where he took T-2nd.

The solid stretch of golf since he last MC’d at the PGA Championship in May includes six total top-30s, including T-7th against a solid field at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Fleetwood is now off to the Zozo Championship where he took T-22nd (71-69-67-67) in 2019. He navigated tree-lined Narashino Country Club well, finishing sixth in the field in driving accuracy (35/52, 67.31%). He was also T-6th in greens in regulation (54/72, 75%).

“Playing in the inaugural Zozo Championship in 2019 and competing in the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 this July were truly fantastic experiences and I’m looking forward to being in Japan again,” Fleetwood was quoted by the PGA Tour. “I know it’s not an easy task preparing for a tournament under these present times and hats off to Zozo for putting together a first-class tournament. My game is in a great place and I love the golf course over there and feel very confident of my chances at getting a win.”
