The PGA Tour is in the second of three weeks outside the U.S.A. for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

A field of 132 is vying for the apt wooden triangle trophy awaiting the winner.

This is the third year of the new event. Brendon Todd triumphed in 2019 and Brian Gay in 2020. Starting last year, the event bumped up to offering full FedEx Cup points.

Port Royal Golf Club continues as the host venue. It’s a Robert Trent Jones layout that opened in 1969 on Bermuda’s western coast in Southampton.

It’s one of the shorter courses on the PGA Tour schedule, measuring 6,850 yards for a par 71. Scores tend to be benign in Bermuda, especially if the wind is down. The course is relatively straight forward and the greens are undulating but not overly tricky and slower than average.

It should comes as no surprise that bermudagrass proliferates Port Royal from tee to green.

This is a common surface in the southeastern U.S., so if two years of course history at this event are not enough for you, a predictive tool for this week is to find guys who tend to thrive on the Florida swing.

The field quality is not great this week. It doesn’t help that the last two weeks on the PGA Tour were limited field, guaranteed money events that siphoned away a lot of big names.

There is no one inside the top 20 in the Official World Golf Rankings here in Bermuda.

Nonetheless, there are still a lot of reasons to watch as a golf fan. Especially so if you like to see the Korn Ferry Tour graduates get a shot.

It’s also a place where guys like Brian Gay can resurrect their careers with one good week.

There are chances of precipitation in the practice rounds as well as on the weekend. It could be a tough test as the wind projects to steadily be in the teens miles per hour and will certainly gust above 25.

Let’s dive into 10 players who will contend for the title.
