Guido Migliozzi won both of his European Tour titles in 2019, but it was 2021 when he really burst onto the scene.
With a unique name and a perma-smile, Migliozzi endeared himself to American golf fans by claiming T-4th at the U.S. Open. It seemed like he was getting up and done all over the place on Sunday.
The result was less of a surprise to Euro fans who saw him claim back-to-back solo second-place finishes in his two events leading up to Torrey Pines.
The fame from the U.S. Open helped Migliozzi land a sponsor exemption to the Travelers Championship, where he finished T-13th. The dream year continued as he got to represent Italy at the Olympics. Migliozzi ended up on the top half of the leaderboard.
The 24-year-old is ninth on the European Tour in scoring average (69.7) and is still in the hunt for the Race to Dubai title at 12th in the season-long standings. Migliozzi’s a good iron player and ranks 48th in greens in regulation (68.82%).
This will be his Butterfield Bermuda Championship debut.
Migliozzi missed back-to-back cuts in Spain in his two events prior to coming to the Western Hemisphere. It’s been nearly a year since MC’ing in consecutive weeks, so I like him to bounce back and show off his chops against a weak field by PGA Tour standards.
Prior to Spain, he managed T-17th at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and finished ahead of the likes of Branden Grace, Billy Horschel, Andy Sullivan, etc.
