The final full-field PGA Tour event of 2021 is on the docket.

The RSM Classic has been a fixture at various junctures of the fall schedule since its debut in 2010.

Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Georgia, is the venue. Both the Seaside and Plantation courses are in play with the 65 players and ties out of the field of 156 who make the 36-hole cut switching exclusively to Seaside for the weekend.

Seaside is a 7,005-yard par-72 designed by Harry S. Colt in the late 1920s and redesigned in the 2000s by Tom Fazio.

The greens are larger than average and bunkering is light throughout the course. Winning scores tend to land in the teens to low 20s under par. The main defense is wind and rough that is thick in spots. Green speeds tend to be slightly above average. Overseeded Bermuda, common on Southeastern U.S. courses, is prevalent throughout.

The Plantation course measures 7,058 yards for a par 72. Davis Love III and his design team redesigned it before the 2019 RSM Classic. Bunkers were moved to better challenge the pros and green complexes were altered to more classic styles.

Fairways and tees at Plantation switched from bermudagrass to platinum papsalum. Greens are still Bermuda.

Full FedEx Cup points are on the line with 500 going to the winner, along with tournament records of a $1.296 winner’s share and $7.2 million purse.

Last year’s event featured its strongest field, partially due to the fact it was the week after the Masters, which was moved due to November due to the pandemic.

This year’s field takes a dip, as many players have already packed it in for what little there is of an offseason in golf.

Many of the top names who are showing up this week are St. Simons Island residents, which includes Harris English, Matt Kuchar, Hudson Swafford, etc.

The weather forecast is dry with temperatures in the 50s-60s primarily. The wind expects to be a factor as it’s prone to be, with winds steadily in the teens miles per hour.

Let’s get down to the power rankings.
