Louis Oosthuizen’s RSM Classic debut in 2020 didn’t go as planned, but I envision his second time around Sea Island to go better.

For one, he shook off a 73 at the Plantation course to post 69 at Seaside in round two. He was one off the cut line until a couple late bogies doomed his chance at the weekend.

Oosthuizen hit 23 of 28 fairways but couldn’t convert enough on those chances.

In his trip back to Georgia, he comes in as the highest ranked player in the field.

Oosthuizen is not in peak form like he was during major season, but he hasn’t fallen off a cliff either.

He hasn’t missed a cut since… I’ll let you guess…

The 2020 RSM Classic!

That’s pretty impressive, even amid the slew of no-cut events that dominate the calendar. His last outing was T-38 at the CJ Cup a month ago, so he comes in fresh. Oosthuizen had four top-20s in his five previous starts, with a T-3rd at The Open and T-17th at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.

Oosthuizen is now an Ocala, Florida, resident, so this isn’t a tough three-hour drive to make.

The 39-year-old ranked first on the PGA Tour last season in strokes gained putting (.764) and was fourth in total strokes gained (1.599).

He still seeks his first PGA Tour win, as well as any win in the United States. What better way for the mild mannered Oosthuizen to get it done than on a sleepy Sunday in the fall?
