Ho-hum. Another top-10 for Jon Rahm last week.

Playing in his collegiate backyard at the WM Phoenix Open, Rahm carded 67-70-68-67 to post T-10th just four shots out of a playoff.

While he hardly factored in the trophy chase Sunday, it was another example of Rahm squeezing out a big paycheck even without his best short game.

The former Arizona State Sun Devil ranked first in the field in strokes gained off the tee (7.943) and was third in SG tee to green (11.232). Get a few more putts to roll in, and he could have pushed Scottie Scheffler and company for the title.

Rahm might be ready to lose his top over the fact he hasn’t won since the U.S. Open, but it just feels like a matter of time.

He’s already got a runner-up finish at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, T-14th at The American Express, and T-3rd at the Farmers Insurance Open.

The Spaniard has a skill set that translates anywhere he goes. With that said, the West Coast swing tends to treat him particularly well.

At the Genesis Open/Invitational. Rahm’s got a T-9th (67-70-69-71) in 2019, T-17th (70-68-69-72) in 2020 and T-5th (70-69-72-66) in 2021.

Last year, he led the field in greens in regulation (73.61%) and was fourth in the field in strokes gained tee to green (8.616).

In 15 measured rounds this season, Rahm leads the PGA Tour in SG off the tee (1.21) and is seventh in SG approach (.882). He was second (.834) and eighth (.717), respectively, in 2020-21.
