I’ve never bet a guy who’s at the top of the board and I’m not going to start now. This is a week to not put too much emphasis on course history as most of the field has had at least one poor outing at the Honda Classic in the past.

Instead, I’ll start things off with Louis Oosthuizen. I can’t pass on the guy who plays difficult courses better than anyone in the field.  Oosty is the number one player in my model this week. He’s number one on tour in ball striking, second in the field in bogey avoidance, and gains shots in all my key categories. He’s only played 13 rounds on tour this year, but his numbers are very similar to what they were last season. If you want to say there’s insufficient data, go ahead, but I’m going to argue that the guy who was the best putter on tour last year isn’t going to finish 150th, where he is now.

Brian Harman (+4000)

The Champion Course at the Honda Classic favors accuracy over distance and that plays right into Harman’s hands. One of the shorter hitters on tour, Harman specializes in accuracy. He gains strokes ARG and is seventh on tour in bogey avoidance. Harman comes into this tournament with six consecutive made cuts and a third-place finish a month ago at The American Express.
