This week, the PGA Tour presents fantasy golf fans with the 2022 Honda Classic.

Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact lineup for a specific fantasy provider. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Now let’s turn our attention to my fantasy golf player selections for the 2022 Honda Classic.

Jhonattan Vegas

The 37-year-old fired a final round 66 at the 2022 Saudi International three weeks ago en route to an eventual eighth-place result.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2022 Honda Classic field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Jhonattan Vegas ranks ninth in strokes gained ball striking, second in GIR (greens in regulation), and first in driving distance.

Keith Mitchell

Keith Mitchell has accumulated four top 12 finishes in his last five tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a tenth place result at the 2022 Waste Management Phoenix Open two weeks ago.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2022 Honda Classic field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Keith Mitchell ranks fourth in strokes gained off the tee, sixth in strokes gained ball striking, and fifth in birdie or better percentage.

Sam Ryder

The 32-year-old American arrives at this week’s PGA Tour event on the heels of two consecutive top 26 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a 23rd place result at the 2022 Waste Management Phoenix Open.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2022 Honda Classic field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Sam Ryder ranks tenth in strokes gained around the green and 16th in strokes gained on par fives.

It should also be noted that Sam Ryder finished eighth at the 2021 Honda Classic.

Michael Thompson

Thompson posted a first-round 64 at the 2022 Farmers Insurance Open four weeks ago on his way to an eventual 11th place finish.

Thompson also checks the box for me when it comes to previous event/course form. Michael Thompson has played the Honda Classic nine times since 2012. In those nine tournaments just mentioned, Thompson has accumulated four top 24 finishes, including a win at the 2013 Honda Classic.
