Fantasy Golf: 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational DFS Picks
By Hans Geevers
This week, the PGA Tour presents fantasy golf fans with one of the most prestigious tournaments of the year, the 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational. Let’s take a look at this week’s PGA Tour event from a fantasy golf perspective.
Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact lineup for a specific fantasy provider. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!
Let’s shift our focus to my favorite fantasy golf player selections for the 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Lanto Griffin
The 33-year-old American arrives at this week’s 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational in rather good form. Griffin has accumulated three top 30 finishes in his last four tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a third-place result at the 2022 American Express last month.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Lanto Griffin ranks 12th in strokes gained tee to green, tenth in proximity to the hole, and tenth in strokes gained around the green.
It should also be noted that Lanto Griffin finished 21st at the 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Keith Mitchell
Full disclosure, I have recommended playing Keith Mitchell in all DFS formats multiple times over the course of this year. Due to the fact I don’t want to miss out on the win that I believe is coming for Keith (very soon), I am rolling with Mitchell again this week.
Let me elaborate as to why I like Mitchell to play well this week. Keith arrives at this week’s PGA Tour event on the heels of three consecutive top 12 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a ninth-place result at last week’s 2022 Honda Classic.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Keith Mitchell ranks fourth in strokes gained off the tee, sixth in strokes gained ball striking, and fourth in strokes gained on par fives.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout
The talented young South African has accumulated two top 25 finishes in his last three tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a 14th place result at the 2022 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am one month ago.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Christiaan Bezuidenhout ranks fifth in bogey avoidance and fourth in scrambling.
Bezuidenhout also checks the box for me when it comes to previous course/tournament history. Christiaan Bezuidenhout has played the Arnold Palmer Invitational twice since 2020. In those two events just mentioned, Bezuidenhout has accumulated two top 18 finishes, including a seventh-place result at the 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Max Homa
The 31-year-old has accumulated three top 15 finishes in his last four tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a tenth place result at the 2022 Genesis Invitation two weeks ago.
Max Homa finished tenth at the 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Additional golfers I like this week: Rory McIlroy: Paul Casey: Keegan Bradley: Ian Poulter.
