The Arnold Palmer Invitational And It’s History With Tiger Woods
2008
Tiger Woods famously threw hit hat into the ground after sinking another winning putt on the 18th green in 2008. The win extended his unbeaten streak to start the 2008 season and was his fifth victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, following on from wins at Bay Hill in 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003.
Tiger edged out Bart Bryant by a stroke this time after hitting a 24 footer for the win. The win, which was the 64th for Woods, moved him into a tie with the great Ben Hogan on the all-time list. He would also go on to win the iconic U.S. Open at Torrey Pines later that year.
2009
Tiger came roaring back from a long absence that had cost him from June 2008 into the beginning of 2009. He also came roaring back on the leaderboard in the final round at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2009.
Woods trailed by five shots going into the final round but produced a memorable comeback to beat out Sean O’Hair on the 18th green this time. Just like 2001, and 2008, he once again sunk a 16 footer for the win. It was the 6th victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational for Tiger in the last ten years.
He would later win the Memorial, and once again at the WGC Bridgestone as he recorded six wins in his comeback from injury.
