After missing the cut in his tournament debut in 2015, Daniel Berger has gotten into a pretty decent groove at the Players Championship.

He hasn’t missed a cut at TPC Sawgrass since 2016, collecting personal best finishes of T-9th that year (66-72-73-69) and in 2021 (74-68-71-67).

Berger recovered well from a poor start, collecting the best final 54-hole score of anyone in the top 20. He was fourth in the field in strokes gained tee to green (9.226) and would have truly contended if not for a negative putting week.

The Jupiter, Florida native and former Florida State Seminole has been playing well in his home state. While he couldn’t convert a sizable lead on Sunday at the Honda Classic, Berger still took home solo fourth place.

It was a nice response to a missed cut in his previous start at the WM Phoenix Open. It was also Berger’s fourth top-10 in the last six starts.

There may not be a player more due for a victory. Berger’s already got four of them on the PGA Tour by age 28, but none since he prevailed at the 2021 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Berger ranks sixth this season in total strokes gained (1.657) thanks largely to marks of third in SG approach (.927) and fifth in SG tee to green (1.639).

He’s fourth in driving accuracy (71%), first in sand saves (82.76%), and sixth in par-4 scoring (3.9).

Berger’s one of the more well-rounded players out there who’s plenty familiar rolling the rock on Bermuda greens.

Look for DB to shake off a disappointing finish at PGA West and get back into contention at PGA Tour headquarters.
