Group Five- Scottie Scheffler, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood, Ian Poulter

Pick: Scottie Scheffler

This may sneakily be one of the tougher groups in this year’s WGC-Dell Match Play. Scheffler was disappointed not to have won an event he felt he should have won last year. Don’t overcomplicate this and take Scheffler to progress.

Group Six- Justin Thomas, Kevin Kisner, Marc Leishman, Luke List

Pick: Justin Thomas

It’s another early exit for 2018 winner Kevin Kisner as Justin Thomas exacts a bit of revenge on Kisner for last year’s defeat and it is he who moves on in 2022.

Group Seven- Xander Schauffele, Tony Finau, Lucas Herbert, Takumi Kanaya

Pick: Tony Finau

Xander Schauffele is the logical pick to win this group but weird things happen at the WGC-Dell Match Play. Finau finds some form this week that is reminiscent of his 2018 Ryder Cup performance when he went 2-1 and upended Tommy Fleetwood. Finau moves on.

Group Eight- Dustin Johnson, Max Homa, Matthew Wolff, Mackenzie Hughes

Pick: Dustin Johnson

Max Homa comes close to pulling off a Robert MacIntyre from last year in knocking off Dustin Johnson, but he comes up just short this time. DJ is finding form at the moment and the 2016 WGC-Dell Match Play Champion takes care of this group.
