We may not see Phil at the Masters this year, but what if I told you we could be seeing the return of a particular ‘big cat.’

While the focus heading into the Masters should be on the stellar play of new number one Scottie Scheffler, the mere thought of Tiger teeing it up at the Masters makes for a more prominent headline.

What started as a rumor has quickly turned into a possibility; Tiger Woods, a year removed from a deadly car accident, is heavily considering returning to competitive golf. What better place to make a return to professional golf than Augusta National.

What started as rumors a couple of weeks ago morphed into more questions as people can find Woods’ name on the Masters’ website as one of the golfers participating in the 2022 Masters.

Furthermore, a video surfaced over the weekend of Tiger Woods practicing at his home course, Medalist, down in Jupiter, Florida. As of Tuesday, he is en route to Augusta National to scout the golf course and hopefully play a practice round in preparation for the tournament next week.

As of Tuesday, Tiger seems to have passed all tests needed to play on Thursday. His body and mind seem to be in the right place moving forward, but the question remains whether Tiger Woods is up for the challenge.

Will Tiger Woods Tee it up Next Thursday?

It’s been more than two years since we last saw Tiger Woods play on Tour, but he did tee it up with his son, Charlie, at the PNC Father/Son Tournament in late November/early December. That tournament marked Tiger’s first competitive golf outing since his near-fatal car crash in March of 2021.

As of right now, the fact that he is out walking the golf course is a sign of great things to come. We haven’t seen Tiger tee it up at Augusta in two years, but Tiger’s legacy will always live on at Augusta.

Woods currently has five Green Jackets (1997, 2001,2002,2005,2019), with his win in 2019 being his most impressive feat yet. There’s nothing this man hasn’t overcome. In 2008, he won the U.S. Open on one leg, even after barely making it off the tee box.

Next. Decade by decade, the best of the Masters. dark

After numerous arrests and surgeries, I, along with many others, thought we would never see Tiger again, but in 2019, he proved everyone wrong by winning his fifth Green Jacket. Now, fresh off a car crash that happened just over a year ago, Tiger Woods is contemplating teeing it up again.

As I mentioned before, it’s not guaranteed that he tees it up on Thursday, but the ball is now in his court. Depending on how he feels after his practice round on Tuesday, I’d say the odds of him playing are, in the words of Larry David, “Pretty good! Pretty, Pretty good!”
