Fantasy Golf: 2022 Masters DFS Player Selections

This week, the PGA Tour presents the most prestigious event of the year, the 2022 Masters. A stacked field of talented golfers will arrive at Augusta National hoping to win the first major championship of the year. Let’s take a look at this week’s 2022 Masters from a fantasy golf perspective.
Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact lineup for a specific fantasy provider.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!
Here are my fantasy golf player selections for the 2022 Masters!
Matthew Fitzpatrick
Since the beginning of February, Matthew Fitzpatrick has played five tournaments on the PGA Tour. In those five events just mentioned, Fitzpatrick has accumulated an impressive four top-ten finishes, including a fifth-place result at the 2022 Valspar Championship two weeks ago.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2022 Masters field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Matthew Fitzpatrick ranks first in scrambling, fourth in driving accuracy, eighth in GIR (greens in regulation), and third in bogey avoidance.
Jordan Spieth
In February, Jordan Spieth fired a first-round 66 at the 2022 Genesis Invitational on his way to an eventual 26th place result.
Jordan Spieth also has outstanding previous event form at Augusta. Spieth has played the Masters every year since 2014. In those eight events played, Spieth has accumulated six top 11 finishes, including a win at the 2015 Masters.
Tony Finau
The 32-year-old American posted a final round 69 at last week’s 2022 Valero Texas Open en route to a 29th place finish.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2022 Masters field, in the last 36 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Tony Finau ranks 14th in strokes gained ball striking and 14th in strokes gained approach.
It should also be noted that Tony Finau has played well at the Masters in the past. Finau has played the Masters four times since 2018. In those four tournaments just noted, Finau has accumulated three top-ten finishes, including a fifth-place result at the 2019 Masters.

Marc Leishman
In relation to this week’s current listed 2022 Masters field, in the last 36 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Marc Leishman ranks tenth in three-putt avoidance, 13th in scrambling, and sixth in strokes gained putting.
The current forecast for the four-tournament rounds indicates that high winds could be an issue starting on Friday. Having stated that, it is never a bad thing to get a talented Australian golfer in your fantasy golf lineup.
In my opinion, Leishman is just the type of golfer that arrives on a DFS/fantasy golf slate at a low price and posts a top ten finish. Marc Leishman finished fifth at the 2022 Masters.
