8. Dustin Johnson

Best Case: It was a slow start to 2022 for DJ by his incredibly high standards but things started to turn around for him in Austin before making the trip to Augusta. Johnson has his game in the perfect spot as begins the first major of the year. He plays his typical carefree style of golf and rebounds from his missed cut here last year with ferocity.

Johnson is locked in as he looks more like the player with five top 10 finishes at the Masters in his last six starts, and less like the defending champion who missed the cut here in 2021. It’s another classic performance as he wins by a handful of strokes once again, just like he did in 2020 when he won by five, and just as he did at the Northern Trust that same year when he won by eleven. All anyone can do is sit back and admire how spectacular he is when at his very best. Dustin dominates the field en route to his second green jacket in three years.

Worst Case: Dustin Johnson forgets that he is not playing in that third-place playoff against Corey Conners at the WGC-Dell Match Play anymore, or at least that is how it seems as he just never really clicks into gear. Much like Rory, he finds a way to make the cut and spare himself the pain of missing the weekend at Augusta for the second year in a row, but all in all, it is a lethargic performance from Johnson.

DJ begins to question his choice of putter once again as he makes nothing all week, and after having brought four different putters to TPC Sawgrass a few weeks ago, he strongly debates doing so again as he makes his way to South Carolina for the RBC Heritage.
