2022 RBC Heritage: Top 10 Power Rankings At Harbour Town
Joaquin Niemann doesn’t have a lot of course history at the RBC Heritage, but what little he’s got is good.
The Chilean debuted at Harbour Town in 2020 and took T-5th. Competing against the tournament’s best field when it was pushed to June due to the pandemic, Niemann posted 69-68-63-65 to finish three off the winning total.
“I really like the course,” Niemann was transcribed by ASAP Sports in 2020. “You’ve got fades, draws. It really fits me well because, off the tee, I can hit a draw and also my low fade that really fits well to this course. I feel pretty good on this course. I like it.”
Niemann is coming off a T-35th finish at the Masters. The 23-year-old still seeks his first top-20 in a major, but he flashed good signs during the week.
Niemann makes his second-ever appearance at the RBC Heritage in 2022
Niemann handled the massive moment of playing alongside Tiger Woods for the first two rounds with aplomb.
He opened in 69 to sit in the top 10 and was still in the mix after a 74 the next day in tricky conditions.
Unfortunately, Jaco finished in 77-74.
He’ll assuredly take a lot from the week as he looks to build on an already successful 2021-22 PGA Tour season. Niemann won Tiger’s tournament, the Genesis Invitational, in impressive fashion in February.
Niemann also took T-8th at Tiger’s familiar stomping grounds at the Farmers Insurance Open.
He ranks sixth on the PGA Tour in strokes gained tee to green (1.416). His short game is the type you want at an event where everyone is bound to miss some greens. Niemann is sixth in SG around the green (.514) and 35th in sand saves (57.89%).
