Shane Lowry’s 2019 Open Championship remains his magnum opus, but a T-3rd finish at last week’s Masters is up there with one of his top performances.

In fact, it’s the Irishman’s third-best performance in a major championship, also slotting behind a T-2nd at the 2016 U.S. Open. Lowry fired 73-68-73-69 to finish five off the winning pace and two back of second.

“I think I have believed that I can do whatever in this game. I just have to allow myself to come to these tournaments and do it,” Lowry was transcribed by ASAP Sports. “Look, this week coming in I was playing such great golf. My form was really good, and I felt very comfortable, so I’m hoping next year when I get back here, I’ll feel the same and give it another go. Who knows what shape my game will be in this time next year.”

The recently-turned 35-year-old hit 82.1% of his fairways at Augusta National and made 66.6% of his sand saves.

Lowry produced his eighth straight stroke-play cut in a row and has seven top-25s in his last eight starts worldwide.

That includes solo second at the Honda Classic where he looked destined to win before pounding rain on the 18th hole Sunday disrupted his rhythm.

Speaking of rhythm, Lowry’s got it at the RBC Heritage. The bearded golfer has made three of four cuts at this event, taking T-3rd (65-68-71-70) and finishing two shots back in 2019, and posting T-9th (70-65-72-66) in 2021.

Lowry overcame an inaccurate driving week last year to finish sixth in the field in strokes gained approach (5.66 total).

On the season, Lowry is 10th on the PGA Tour in total SG (1.485 average) and 11th in SG approach (.66). Plus, he’s sixth in sand saves (67.65%).
