The PGA Tour returns stateside this week for the Wells Fargo Championship.

We’re not at its traditional venue, Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC. Quail Hollow has dibs on the Presidents Cup this year, so it cedes the reins this week to TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm in Potomac, Maryland.

This Washington D.C. area venue was formerly known as TPC Avenel. It’s familiar to pro golf fans. It hosted the Booz Allen Classic/Kemper Open from 1987-2006 and the Quicken Loans National in 2017 and 2018.

TPC Potomac measures at 7,107 yards for a par 70. It contrasts from last week’s long, wide-open layout at the Mexico Open.

This week, driver is taken out of players’ hands often.

Finding the tight fairways is key to attacking an otherwise gettable course.

If the wind is down and conditions are soft like they’re prone to be this time of year.

A fair amount of dog legs require players to shape the ball to succeed here.

Kyle Stanley posted 7-under and won in a playoff at the 2017 Quicken Loans National. Francesco Molinari posted a co-course record 62 in the final round to win by eight in 2018.

Something in the middle of those two disparate winning scores ought to get it done this week.

The early weather forecast for the week shows some chances of rain throughout the tournament with temperatures getting cooler as the week progresses.

The field strength is better than last week, but not by much. Rory McIlroy is the only top 10 player teeing it up this week, and he’s defending his 2021 Wells Fargo Championship title.

Fifteen of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings are in the 156-player field.

Without further delay, let’s get into this week’s top 10 power rankings.
