We saw Scottie Scheffler tee it up alongside fellow Texan Ryan Palmer at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans a couple weeks ago, but this will be Scheffler’s only individual tournament since the Masters prior to the PGA Championship.

He and Palmer settled for T-18th at the two-man team event. That’s about as poor as it gets for Scheffler these days, a man who’s absolutely cruising.

The Masters win culminated in a blistering stretch of four wins in six events. From no PGA Tour wins to nearly a dozen in a matter of two months is remarkable.

Scheffler will look to use that good form to contend this time around at TPC Craig Ranch. The Dallas native settled for T-47th (67-70-68-72) at the 2021 AT&T Byron Nelson. Shooting 11-under is great most weeks, but not when it’s a birdie fest.

He’s proven he can rack those up most weeks.

Scheffler is third on the PGA Tour in birdie average (4.93).

The former Texas Longhorn ranked seventh in the field in strokes gained off the tee (3.89) but was a little off on approach and on the greens.

TPC Craig Ranch is fairly new to the PGA Tour. It’s not new to Scheffler.

The Dallas, Texas, native was one of the first golfers to win an event here when he played and won junior tournaments held at TPC Craig Ranch in the late 2000s.

Scheffler’s game translates well to any course, though this venue particularly plays well to his strengths. He’s a long hitter who’s been a little more accurate of late.

The 25-year-old ranks in the top 80 in all SG categories, including 20th in putting (.588). He’s adept at limiting the big numbers by hitting tons of greens. Scheffler comes in at fourth in GIR (71.26%).
