Next week is the PGA Championship. It’ll start 364 days after the 2021 PGA Championship, where Justin Thomas missed the cut. If Thomas plays the weekend here at the AT&T Byron Nelson, he’ll have gone a full year without missing a cut.

It’s disappointing for a player of his caliber not to have won in that stretch, but his ability to remain in the top 10 in the world the whole time is impressive.

Thomas’ consistency has netted him five top-10s in 2022 and six in the 2021-22 PGA Tour season. He’s been in the mix a few times on the weekend, most notably at the Valspar Championship where he posted T-3rd and was a shot out of a playoff.

The last time we saw JT in action was last month at the RBC Heritage. It wasn’t a great course fit for him, and it showed with a T-35th finish, his worst of the year.

TPC Craig Ranch looks to be more up his alley.

It’ll be Thomas’ first trip to McKinney.

The 29-year-old has been one of the top iron and fairway wood players in the game his entire career. That continues this season by ranking fourth in strokes gained approach (.935) and first in fairway proximity (26’5”).

The key is hitting enough fairways. He’s outside the top 100 in driving accuracy, which has harmed his recent trophy chases.

The Alabama alum is third in par-5 scoring (4.44), first in par-4 scoring (3.91), and second in birdie average (5).
