Never before has a golfer shot two rounds of 60 or better in the same season on the PGA TOUR. That was until Sebastian Muñoz finished round one of the 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson with a 60, good for -12 on the day.

His previous 60 came at The RSM Classic last November at the Sea Island Resort in Saint Simons Island, GA.

Only Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm, and Matt Jones have posted a single round of 60 or better – all of which came at the Sentry Tournament of Champions at the Kapalua Resort in Kapalua, Hawaii, back in January.

Sebastian Munoz was electric on Thursday during the opening round of the 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson.

Muñoz naturally had a great day on the course. He finished the day with a five-stroke lead. Scoring six pars, nine birdies, and two eagles. His only real blemish of the day was the bogey on the par-4 eighth hole. He was forced to take a penalty on an unplayable lie after a tee shot that veered a little too far left.

The 29-year-old Colombian played collegiate golf at the University of North Texas, just 30 miles from TPC Craig Ranch where he told reporters he had played previously two or three times.

Sebastian has recorded two top 5 finishes already this season on the PGA Tour and he will be looking to finish off this week in style as he searches for his first win on Tour since the 2019 Sanderson Farms.

This week wouldn’t be the first time that the Univesity of North Texas alum found success in familiar surroundings. Sebastian has also recorded finishes of 9th at the 2021 Valero Texas Open, and 3rd at the Charles Schwab Challenge last year. He will be looking to secure his second PGA Tour win this week.

Muñoz will look to hold that lead tomorrow, where he is set to tee off with Matt Kuchar and Danny Willett at 12.30 pm Central Time.
