Case in point, Jason Kokrak.

Not only did he win here in 2021, but the former Xavier Musketeer has made five of seven cuts at the Charles Schwab Challenge with a T-3rd (67-70-65-64) against a great field in 2020.

Kokrak fired 65-66-66-70 to win by two over Jordan Spieth last year.

He led in strokes gained tee to green (6.166) and was in eighth in SG approach (5.207) to hide a putting week outside the top 60.

“…to win here, I finished third last year with a putt to get into the playoff last year. I’ve always got good vibes coming here,” Kokrak was transcribed by ASAP Sports in 2021. “The people, the fans, the tournament, everybody in the clubhouse does an amazing job, and you know, I can’t say enough about them that makes this tournament special, and I’m glad to be sitting here with this jacket on and all that comes with it and to get my name up on that wall.”

His career year continued in the fall with a win in Houston. Kokrak’s yet to add to the trophy case in 2022, but he has made nine of 10 cuts in individual stroke play events and has three top-20s.

The 37-year-old is known for bombing it, but the putter’s been his biggest strength this season. Kokrak is 34th in SG putting (.364) and fifth in three-putt avoidance (1.5%).
