What’s Next for Tiger Woods After Withdrawing from PGA Championship
Tiger Woods decided not to play on Sunday after an abysmal 79 in Saturday’s third round of the PGA Championship. The four-time PGA Champion was in excruciating pain throughout the week and found that playing on Sunday wouldn’t be worth it.
Tiger battled to make the cut on Friday despite struggling to make it up each fairway. He managed to battle his way through Augusta and fight through the pain, but Saturday’s tough round proved to be the icing on the cake.
Not only did he have one of the first tee times on Saturday, but he had to battle the cold and windy elements of Southern Hills, which didn’t make it easy on Tiger’s leg and surgically repaired back.
What’s Next For Tiger Woods?
Now, the main question is what lies ahead for Tiger Woods. He’s already announced his plans to play in the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews in July. The real mystery is whether or not Tiger decides to tee it up next month for the U.S. Open, or if he chooses to rest up for July.
To tell you the truth, I think he’d be making a mistake if he chooses to play at Brookline for the U.S. Open. He’s already put his body through enough pain already and I think he should just rest up for the Old Course.
Tiger Woods surprised many when he teed it up at Augusta just over a month ago and got everyone excited about the possibility of him contending in majors again. However, his ability to make it through all four days was overshadowed by the pain he endured while walking up Augusta’s steep incline.
While it is great to see the Big Cat back in the majors, I don’t know if he will contend given his current state. We can only hope he gives us something to remember in Scotland.
