Well, we now know which golfers will be defying the PGA Tour to join the LIV Golf Series and chase that historic purse.

With the LIV’s first event set to begin on June 9th at Centurion Golf Club in London England, it will be their first chance to directly compete for attention with the PGA Tour, which is set to host the RBC Canadian Open that same weekend.

With both events now just days away, PGA Tour players have the opportunity to show their true love and support for a Tour that has supported them for years.

The field for the RBC Canadian Open is set to be finalized on Friday, June 3rd at 5:00 pm, and they have already received commitments from some pretty big names, including:

1.       Scottie Scheffler (World No. 1)

2.       Cameron Smith (No. 3)

3.       Justin Thomas (No. 5)

4.       Rory McIlroy (No. 7)

With events during the week including concerts from Flo Rida & Maroon 5, this event should be a great opportunity for the PGA Tour to showcase their devout and wild fan base, especially the ones up north.

The first LIV Golf event has some big names of its own in attendance next week.

In contrast, the LIV Golf Series now has commitments from its own share of world-class golfers, including:

1.       Dustin Johnson (No. 13)

2.       Talor Gooch (No. 35)

3.       Sergio Garica (No. 54)

4.       Ian Poulter (No. 89)

With a combined purse of $25 million (yes, $25 million), it was seemingly too good of an opportunity to pass up, with such a strong payday for all.

Now that we know the competition that faces Jay Monahan and the PGA Tour, it remains to be seen if any of the golfers in the LIV field will ever be allowed back on Tour.

We know that Monahan denied their requests for a release, but I am sure that they will at least try to fight their way back.

In the meantime, I’m sure that Monahan and the Tour have one wish for the rest of his golfers: don’t give Greg Norman and LIV golf the satisfaction of watching.

Come and play at the prestigious St. George Golf & Country Club in Toronto; support the Tour and the fans that cheer you on each week. In a tournament that hasn’t taken place in 2 years due to the pandemic, it’s evident that his crowd will be electric all week.

Regardless of what comes throughout the next few days, we all know that June 9th will be an interesting day in the golf world.

With 2 substantial tournaments being played simultaneously, fans and golfers will have to choose which one to watch and support. Monahan and the PGA Tour will be watching to ensure that this doesn’t affect their ratings, but don’t be surprised if it does. For me, I’ll be in attendance in Toronto, cheering on my favorite players on Tour.
