Xander Schauffele continues to churn out consistent results, but the highs just aren’t as high as he would like.

The four-time PGA Tour winner is still in search of his first one in 2021-22. He was in the mix at the U.S. Open last week after opening in 70-69, but a Saturday 75 (albeit in the toughest conditions of the week) dropped him out of contention for his first career major.

Nevertheless, Schauffele hung in for T-14th to post his fifth straight top-20. One of those was a T-5th at the AT&T Byron Nelson, his closest chance at a solo victory besides T-3rd early in the year at the WM Phoenix Open. Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay triumphed together this spring at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

The X Man was 13th for the week at the U.S. Open in strokes gained around the green (2.61) and 20th in SG putting (3.65). If it weren’t for a substandard ball-striking week, he could have been a real factor.

The stats show he’s bound to bounce back for a better week tee to green, where he ranks seventh per round on the PGA Tour (1.411). He’s also 12th in SG approach (.719).

X ranks second in sand save percentage (67.21%).

Schauffele can hit it about as far as anyone but is also good with his short clubs. He is ninth in proximity from 125-150 yards (20’8”) and 10th from 100-125 (16’11”).

Schauffele has a pair of top-20s in three Travelers Championship appearances. He made his tournament debut in 2017 and posted 66-70-70-67 for T-14th. After an MC in 2018, Schauffele played well again in 2020 with rounds of 63-68-70-67 for T-20th.
