Four top-six finishes and zero wins in his last seven starts is Will Zalatoris’ pro career in a nutshell.

It’s abundantly clear how much talent is packed into his wiry frame. His recent run of form includes a run to the WGC-Dell Match Play quarterfinals, T-6th, second and T-2nd at the majors, and T-5th at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday.

Zalatoris has still yet to win on the PGA Tour or in the majors, but consensus belief is his day is coming soon.

He’s racked up seven top-10s in 2022 against just two missed cuts.

Now, the Wake Forest alum is off to links land. Zalatoris carded 69-70-66-69 to finish T-26th at the 2021 Genesis Scottish Open. He had to withdraw from The Open Championship the next week with a back injury.

“It’s kind of similar to actually how we play in the wintertime back home,” Zalatoris was transcribed by ASAP Sports in 2021 describing links golf. “You know, Texas is very dry, and so we get a lot of wind, fog. Gets a little firm. Got to keep it on the ground, keep it underneath the wind. So I’ve kind of grown up on it and certain close way, it’s not exactly links golf. But the few amount of links courses we have in the States, I know how to play them.”

The 25-year-old leads the PGA Tour in strokes gained approach per round (1.035) and is second in SG tee to green (1.826). He’s a golf aficionado and has all the shots in his bag.

We all know putting is his bugaboo, so perhaps switching it up to slower greens this week at The Renaissance Club and next week at St. Andrew’s will be the elixir.
