Fresh off his fifth career solo PGA Tour win, Xander Schauffele looks to keep the momentum rolling across the pond.

The southern California kid got it done in his last start about as far away as you can get in the States when he prevailed by one shot in his last start at the Travelers Championship.

It continued his strong play this year that includes a team win with Patrick Cantlay at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Schauffele has six top-20s in a row and 10 in his last 13.

The X Man played well in his only Scottish Open appearance in 2021.

He posted 67-70-66-67 at The Renaissance Club to take T-10th and finish just four off the pace.

“I think the course is awesome,” Schauffele was transcribed by ASAP Sports prior to the 2021 Scottish Open. “I think it’s fun. I hope it’s playing as hard as possible. I’ve seen in years past that 22-under has won and the last year or last time it was played, Aaron won at 11-under. So I think the weather plays a big part in how difficult it will play.”

While the 28-year-old is still a relative newcomer to the Scottish Open, he’s got four Open Championships under his belt. Schauffele made the cut in all four of them and took T-2nd in 2018.

Schauffele ranks fourth on the PGA Tour in total strokes gained per round (1.859) and eighth in SG approach (.787).

He’s having an incredibly consistent season. The former San Diego State Aztec is eighth in scoring average (69.613), fifth in birdie average (4.46), and second in sand saves (68.12%).

Data Golf, which factors in analytics and weights recent performance more heavily, ranks Schauffele fifth in the world compared to 11th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
