The 150th British Open is less than 48 hours away and we now know when some of the worlds best will begin their Championship on Thursday.

The iconic Old Course at St. Andrews will host the 150th playing of the famous Championship this week and the best in the world found out on Tuesday what time they will begin their march towards the famous Claret Jug.

Here is a breakdown of some of the key groupings for the 150th British Open.

 Collin Morikawa-Rory McIlroy-Xander Schauffele

(Thursday: 4:58 am EST/9:58 am Local – Friday: 9:59 am EST/2:59 pm Local)

The reigning ‘Champion Golf of the Year’ Collin Morikawa begins his defense of the British Open crown alongside Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele at 9:58 am local time on Thursday morning.

Rory McIlroy is one of the hot favorites to win the 150th Open this week after three consecutive top 10 finishes in the year’s first three Major Championships, he returns to St. Andrews after agonizingly missing out due to an injury in 2015.

Schauffele is also a force to reckoned with this week after winning in his previous two starts both at last week’s Genesis Scottish Open and the Travelers Championship last month.

Scottie Scheffler-Joaquin Niemann-Tyrrell Hatton

(Thursday: 8:26 am EST/1:26 pm Local – Friday: 3:25 am EST/8:25 am Local)

Masters winner Scottie Scheffler will begin his British Open in the afternoon on Thursday alongside Joaquin Niemann and Tyrrell Hatton. Scheffler missed the cut at the PGA Championship in May but bounced back with an excellent showing at the U.S. Open last month where he finished T2nd.

Chilean Joaquin Niemann won the Genesis Invitational back in February this year and the talented 23-year-old will be looking this week to improve upon his best finish in a Major this year, a T23rd  which came at the PGA Championship back in May.

Englishman Tyrrell Hatton has made the cut in each of the year’s first three Majors, he will look to keep that streak alive at the British Open. Tyrrell’s best finishes at The Open came in 2019 (6th) and 2016 (5th), he missed the cut at Royal St. George’s last year.

Tiger Woods-Matthew Fitzpatrick-Max Homa

(Thursday: 9:59 am EST/2:59 pm Local – Friday: 4:58 am EST/9:58 am Local)

Tiger Woods returns to St. Andrews this week, the site of two of his three British Open wins. Woods goes off on Thursday afternoon alongside U.S. Open winner Matthew Fitzpatrick and Max Homa.

The 15-time Major Champion made his incredible return to golf at the Masters in April, and after withdrawing from the PGA Championship in May he then decided to skip last month’s U.S. Open and focus on preparations for St. Andrews.

U.S. Open winner Matthew Fitzpatrick has had a phenomenal Major season with his win at Brookline last month and finishes of 5th and 14th at the PGA Championship and Masters this year.

The Englishman will look to improve this week upon his best British Open result which came at Royal Portrush in 2019 (20th).

2022 Wells Fargo Championship winner Max Homa completes the group and while he has had a less than stellar track record in Majors so far, he did pick up his best result back at Southern Hills in May where he finished T13th.

Jordan Spieth-Jon Rahm-Harold Varner III

(Thursday: 10:10 am EST/3:10 pm Local – Friday: 5:09 am EST/10:09 am Local)

2017 ‘Champion Golfer of the Year’ Jordan Spieth returns to St. Andrews this week after narrowly missing out on a playoff the last time he was here back in 2015. Jordan begins his Championship alongside 2021 U.S. Open winner Jon Rahm, and Harold Varner III on Thursday afternoon.

The three-time Major winner missed his first-ever cut at the Masters back in April and his best showing in a Major this year came back in May at Southern Hills where he finished T34th, he finished in a share of 37th at the U.S. Open last month.

Jon Rahm was in a great position to defend his U.S. Open title last month at Brookline before a costly mistake on the 18th on Saturday proved too much to overcome. The Spaniard is still in search of his first top 10 finish in a Major this year.

After a string of mediocre finishes at the British Open by his high standards, Rahm has strung together finishes of 11th at Royal Portrush in 2019 and 3rd at Royal St. George’s last year.

Harold Varner III completes the grouping and he will be making his third appearance in a British Open this week at St. Andrews. Varner has made two of three cuts in Major Championships this year with his best finish coming at Augusta National in April (23rd).

The 150th playing of The Open Championship begins on Thursday.
