Cameron Tringale was the 54-hole leader at the 2021 3M Open. I bet you can guess how it turned out.

It’s been beaten to death, but Cameron Tringale has made the most money on the PGA Tour without a win. His lifetime earnings over 333 starts jumped to $17,376,160 after hauling in $33,624 for his T-62nd finish at last week’s Open Championship.

Last year at TPC Twin Cities, Tringale was humming with rounds of 67-68-66. He was 1-under through 12 holes on Sunday and still in the mix to win until a triple-bogey on the par-3 13th submarined his chances. He wound up T-16th.

“I think it’s picking the right spots to be aggressive,” Tringale was transcribed by Tee Scripts describing the strategy at TPC Twin Cities. “I think that’s one of the keys to this golf course is you have your easier holes where you can be aggressive and go at pins, and then you certainly have holes where you have to play to the fat side.”

Tringale has some scar tissue from last year, but the good at this event should outweigh the bad in his mind.

He’s 3-for-3 making the cut at the 3M Open.

Tringale was T-3rd in 2020 (69-70-63-66).

He was the 18-hole and 36-hole leader two weeks ago at the Genesis Scottish Open where he finished T-6th. That was the former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket’s fourth top-10 finish of the 2021-22 PGA Tour season. Tringale’s closest calls were T-2nd at the Zozo Championship and T-3rd at the Farmers Insurance Open.

The 34-year-old’s stats this season are pretty solid across the board. He’s normally a good putter and is 25th in putts from inside 10 feet (89.25%).
