Among those who have played all three editions of the Rocket Mortgage Classic, few have as good of a resume at Detroit Golf Club as Cameron Tringale.

He posted T-5th (68-67-65-71) in 2019, T-30th (68-67-72-69) in 2020 and T-14th (71-70-68-66) in 2021.

Tringale is a solid iron player, which explains why he’s had success here in Michigan.

“The greens here are really section-y and they’re tucking the pins on top of a shelf or in a saddle,” Tringale was transcribed by Tee Scripts. “So if you’re able to hit it close, then you’re going to have a lot of good looks at birdie, but if you don’t hit it close, you’re going to be struggling to two-putt.”

He ranked seventh in the 2021 field in total strokes gained (4.904).

Despite ranking T-78th in fairways hit, Tringale was T-3rd in greens in regulation (83.33%).

Tringale brings in solid form that leads some to believe he could end his winless drought any day now.

I don’t quite see that happening, but he’s currently in position to make the Tour Championship next month. I at least envision him strengthening that case with another top-10 this week.

The former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket owns four this season, including T-2nd at the ZOZO Championship last fall.

Tringale recently finished T-6th at the Genesis Scottish Open and led for much of the tournament. He also made the cut at The Open Championship.

The 34-year-old ranks 44th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained approach per round (.362).
