Billy Horschel is a six-time PGA Tour winner. Despite none of them coming at the Wyndham Championship, this has still been one of his more lucrative events.

Horschel has made the cut eight times in nine tries with four top-11 finishes and seven top-50s.

“If you can put the ball in the fairway, you can be aggressive to these pins and control your shots going into these greens, which is crucial,” Horschel was transcribed by Tee Scripts in 2020.

Horschel has been strong at Sedgefield his last three visits

The former Florida Gator earned T-11th (66-68-67-65) in 2018, T-6th (68-67-65-64) in 2019, and solo second (66-64-65-65) in 2020. It seems like it would have behooved him to play last year, but pre-playoffs rest isn’t a bad option, either. Horschel got that the last two weeks.

In 2020, he was in contention throughout all four days and lost by one to Jim Herman. Horschel was second in the field in total strokes gained putting (6.939) and 10th in SG tee to green (7.69).

Horschel’s last 14 rounds at Sedgefield have been in the 60s.

The 35-year-old last teed it up at The Open Championship where he took T-21st. He won this season at the Memorial Tournament and was runner-up at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Sam Burns and co-runner-up at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

He ranks 12th in strokes gained around the green (.43) and 13th in SG putting (.553). Tournaments on short courses like this can tend to be putting contests. That’s where Horschel shines.
