Tom (he prefers to be called “Tom,” not Jooyhung) Kim was already in the Wyndham Championship field via a sponsor’s exemption. Tournament organizers now get another chance to pick a player as Kim is now in the field via his top-10 finish last week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

It was yet another high result for Kim, who has special temporary membership and projects to have already earned enough FedEx Cup points to finish in the top 125 of last year’s season standings in order to earn his PGA Tour card for 2022-23. Unfortunately, he will not be eligible for the FedEx Cup Playoffs and is not a part of the official standings.

Kim can make it a sure thing by playing well in his first trip to Greensboro.

He looked good last week in Detroit. Kim made the cut on the number before posting 66 on Saturday.

He fired a Sunday-low 63 Sunday to climb to solo seventh place.

“Yeah, I played great. From tee to green I felt really solid,” Kim was transcribed by Tee Scripts on Sunday. “I was hitting the shots that I needed to and I made a lot of putts today as well. So definitely happy. No bogeys on the scorecard, just birdies and an eagle, so definitely pleased with it.”

Kim finished fifth in the field in strokes gained tee to green for the week (9.83) and was fourth in SG approach (6.333).

The 20-year-old phenom recently took third against a stacked field at the Genesis Scottish Open and made the cut in his Open Championship debut (T-47th).

Kim’s got a slew of high finishes on the Asian Tour and took T-17th on the PGA Tour at the AT&T Byron Nelson.
