Sungjae Im played well in his last start and has a good track record at Sedgefield.

The South Korean star has Tom (Jooyhung) Kim nipping at his heels in the Official World Golf Ranking, but Im is still the top dog as far as ranking and accomplishments. Im’s a two-time PGA Tour winner and picked up his third runner-up after taking T-2nd a couple weeks ago at the 3M Open.

He’s a winner this season in Las Vegas and has seven top-10s.

This will be Im’s fourth Wyndham Championship start. His best result came in his 2019 debut when he fired an 8-under 62 in round one en route to T-6th after finishing 67-70-65.

Im returned in 2020 with 69-64-66-65 for T-9th and posted 66-68-67-68 for T-24th in 2021.

He was incredibly steady last year by co-leading the field with 53 pars and no double bogeys or worse. Im was eighth in strokes gained approach for the week (4.658) but couldn’t get anything to roll in.

This season, the 24-year-old ranks 12th on the PGA Tour in total strokes gained per round (1.614) and has no statistical weakness. He’s sixth in SG around the green (.479) and 10th in SG tee to green (1.4).

Im is middle of the road in distance, so a shorter course like Sedgefield can help his cause and allow his iron play and short game to shine.

He’s 12th in greens in regulation (69.83%). I expect him to hit tons of greens like last year with a lot more resulting in birdies.
