Jason Dufner has by and large seen the best days of his excellent professional golfing career come and go already.

To say it has been a struggle in recent years would be a vast understatement, Dufner is fighting tooth and nail to keep his Tour card nowadays.

The once-great Major champion struggles to make a single cut wherever he goes now, he has missed the cut in 16 of his 20 starts on the PGA Tour this season alone. But for at least one moment every season, Jason Dufner finds his happy place.

Each year when the Tour calendar turns to August and the iconic Sedgefield Country Club hosts the Wyndham Championship, Jason seemingly finds his happy place.

The 2013 PGA Champion has played all four rounds at every edition of Greensboro’s championship in seven of his last eight trips to Sedgefield, and four of those starts have resulted in top 25 or better finishes.

Is Jason Dufner turning back the clock yet again at the Wyndham Championship?

The five-time PGA Tour winner is back at the Wyndham Championship this week and once again proving just how comfortable he truly is on these grounds. Jason Dufner tied his season-low score for a single round this week in North Carolina after an opening 66.

The Ohio native tallied an eagle and kept a relatively clean card which included just two blemishes during one of the best rounds of his season.

Dufner’s excellent start puts him in a great position to make what would be just his fifth cut during the 2021-22 PGA calendar year, and it would allow him the chance to build upon finishes of 24th and 31st at the Wyndham Championship over the last two years.

Dreams of FedEx Cup playoff appearances are in all probability a thing of the past for the once-great player.

The more likely outcome at the end of the week would be a projected move to within the top 200 of the FedEx Cup standings. Jason Dufner would be assured a spot in this season’s Korn Ferry Tour Finals as things stand.

The glory days have likely come and gone for a player whose last win came at the 2017 Memorial, but for at least one week every year Jason Dufner gets to return to a happy place and during weeks such as this, he is afforded the opportunity to turn back the clock for a singular moment.
