Three-way tie at the top to kick things off

Brandon Wu, Tom (Joohyung) Kim, and Ryan Moore are all heading into the weekend at the Wyndham Championship at 9 under-par.

Brandon Wu

Brandon Wu is playing his best golf right now, posting his lowest score through 36 holes with a total of 131 strokes. The next closest round for Wu was over a year ago at the Puerto Rico Open in February of 2021 (133), where he also shared the 36-hole co-lead. Wu went on to finish that tournament tied for seventh.

If Wu can finish out the next 36 holes maintaining his lead, he would be the first golfer since Brandt Snedeker (2007) to record their first PGA Tour win at the Wyndham Championship.

Tom (Joohyung) Kim

We have witnessed a turnaround from Tom Kim from his first hole quadruple-bogey to the 36-hole score that earned him the spot of co-leader heading into the weekend.

Since 2003 the PGA Tour has used ShotLink to monitor, track, and inform the public on almost any stat you can think of regarding golfers’ play. Even after the stumble off of the first green, Tom Kim is walking into the teeing area today with his first ever lead or co-lead after two rounds of play. Kim would be looking to become the first player to record a tournament win after scoring a double-bogey or worse on the opening hole.

Surprisingly enough, his best position after 36 holes came at the same tournament as Brandon Wu’s during the 2021 Puerto Rico Open, where Kim started the third round tied for 9th place.

Kim’s success so far at Wyndham Championship in 2022 stems from clutch performances with his flat stick.

Through two rounds of golf, Tom Kim has amassed 301 feet and 1 inch of putts made. To put this in perspective, nobody has recorded this much length with putts made since the tournament moved to Sedgefield Country Club in 2008.

Ryan Moore

The co-leading veteran is looking to make one last big move as the 2021-2022 PGA Tour season comes to a close. Moore was sitting at 183rd in the FedEx Cup standings when heading into the Wyndham Championship. Fast forward two days and 36 holes, and he is projected to move into the top 70!

Moore is no stranger to this event, having competed in it 13 times prior, and he even has a win under his belt at the Wyndham Championship back in 2009.

Despite the past successes, Ryan Moore would be looking to record his first win of the season in Greensboro, North Carolina.

With a season-best finish of a share of 24th place at the 2022 John Deere Classic and his last top 10 finish coming at the 2021 John Deere Classic, Moore is looking for his 6th PGA Tour Win.

Surprisingly, his previous win also came at the John Deere Classic back in 2016.

If Ryan Moore can finish the final 36 holes and maintain the lead, he will join only 10 others that have won the Wyndham Championship multiple times.

Other Players To Watch In Round 3 at The Wyndham Championship

Russell Henley

Currently tied for 4th place at five under par, Henley is the only player in the field that has completed 36 holes without a bogey or worse. While he hasn’t made a ton of birdies or better, the fact remains that being bogey-free keeps you in contention, and a solid round on moving day could keep his name in the mix.

John Huh

Shooting a career low of 61 on day one, John Huh took a step back, shooting a 1-over-par 71 on day two. Sitting at eight under, Huh has proven he can go low in North Carolina and is very much someone to watch this weekend.

Brian Stuard

Stuard is in a great position at seven under par; however, in order to extend his season a top 14 finish this week is a must. Finishing inside the top 14 would move Stuard up in the FedEx Cup standings to a position in the top 125, qualifying him for next week’s FedEx Cup Playoffs.
