Cameron Young won in back-to-back weeks in his first full Korn Ferry Tour season last summer. It proved he belonged on the PGA Tour.

Young is proving he may belong on the PGA Tour for a long time.

A win hasn’t come yet for the powerful rookie, but a lot of cash has.

Young racked up yet another runner-up finish in his last start at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. He was a distant five shots back of Tony Finau, but most of his near misses this season have been by the skin of his teeth.

One of the more underrated shots of the year was Young’s eagle putt on the 72nd hole of The Open Championship that forced Cameron Smith to make birdie to win.

When he wasn’t collecting one of five runner-ups in the 2021-22 season, he was finishing T-3rd at the PGA Championship.

Young is the highest non-winner in the FedEx Cup standings.

The Wake Forest grad will be making his TPC Southwind debut at this week’s FedEx St. Jude.

Young’s biggest asset is his driver. The 25-year-old can hit it a mile and is accurate for a bomber. This advantage off the tee will be muted a bit this week, but he’s still gained strokes on the season in approach, around the green, and putting.

There’s a strong Rookie of the Year class in 2021-22. Young is among the favorites and can lock it down with a strong postseason.

I’ll leave you with his thoughts from Sunday after the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

“I’ve lost by one a couple times and lost by four, five a couple times,” Young was transcribed by Tee Scripts. “All in all, I think it’s a great thing, it proves that I can at least put myself there. Yeah, I think overall it’s a good thing, but definitely a little frustrating not to have won one yet.”
