Scottie Scheffler is in a bit of a downturn, but it’s not time to declare a panic. He’s missed two of his last three cuts, but he does have a T-21st at The Open Championship mixed in.

Prior, Scheffler recorded four straight top-20s with two runner-up finishes. One of his close calls was at the U.S. Open and the other was a playoff defeat to fellow three-plus PGA Tour winner this season, Sam Burns.

Even with a MC last week at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, Scheffler only dropped one spot to second in the standings. Winning four times gives you that kind of leeway.

The former Texas Longhorn picked up his first PGA Tour win of his career in February at the WM Phoenix Open. That opened the floodgates to beat stacked fields at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, WGC-Dell Match Play, and Masters.

It’s surprising he hasn’t won since Augusta National

Scheffler’s still raking in plenty of high finishes.

The 26-year-old ranks sixth on the PGA Tour in total strokes gained per round (1.742). Scheffler is top-50 in all SG stats, including seventh in SG approach (.79) and SG tee to green (1.471).

“I’m obviously very pleased with how this year’s gone,” Scheffler was transcribed by Tee Scripts this week. “I’ve been playing some really good golf and I’ve put myself in position to win a number of tournaments out here and I’ve been able to get the job done four times, which is really special.”

Scheffler’s got the prowess off the tee to handle a 7,500-yard course like BMW Championship host Wilmington Country Club.

There are other guys who are riding hotter, pushing Scheffler back in the power rankings. It would surprise no one if he refound his spring form and added win No. 5 to his resume.
