Matt Fitzpatrick can already claim a successful year with his U.S. Open win in tow. Contending for a FedEx Cup title would be a nice cherry on top.

The Englishman continues to play well since the Country Club, collecting a T-6th at the Genesis Scottish Open, T-21st at The Open Championship, and T-5th at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

“It’s definitely been a different feeling since (winning) coming to golf tournaments,” Fitzpatrick was transcribed by Tee Scripts on life after the U.S. Open. “The motivation is still there to work hard and try and win every week, but there’s certainly a different aspect to it when you turn up, yeah.”

His top-five in Memphis was a product of a solid all-around game and an ability to save par. Fitzpatrick was second in scrambling (85.19%). He leads that stat for the season (69.38%).

After three weeks off, he didn’t shoot himself out of it on Thursday with a 68

He followed with 66-67-68 to steadily climb the leaderboard and finish four shots off the lead.

A 7,500-plus yard course in play this week for the BMW Championship would have been a stay away to wager on or roster Fitzpatrick in years past. He’s added distance to compete on a week-to-week basis and should be just fine at Wilmington Country Club.

Fitzy ranks first on the PGA Tour per round in total strokes gained (2.235) and SG tee to green (1.843).
