LIV Golf: Top 10 Power Rankings ahead of Chicago Invitational
Another LIV Golf event is in the books, and Boston proved to be (probably) the most exciting drama the emerging Tour has produced to date.
In a playoff to determine the Boston champion, Dustin Johnson’s, forceful, final putt for eagle, that nearly popped out, solidified the individual win over Joaquin Niemann and Anirban Lahiri, as well as the team win for the 4 Aces.
This was DJ’s first tournament win in nearly two years. But even more important than the individual or team wins, that putt bumped DJ to the top of our, highly lauded and entirely unofficial, second LIV Golf Power Rankings that sacrilegiously use the FedEx Cup points system to rank players on tour.
In anticipation of LIV Chicago this coming weekend, we have updated the rankings below to show the top 10 LIV golfers according to the FedEx Cup points they would’ve accumulated at the tournament, along with their total earnings from LIV Golf individual competition (i.e., team earnings are not included).
LIV Golf Power Rankings After Four Tournaments (Associated Points, Prize Money)
Since the last edition of our LIV Golf Power Rankings, Dustin Johnson jumped Branden Grace, to grab the top spot.
The rest of the top 10 remained largely unchanged, aside from the addition of Lee Westwood to this most illustrious of groups after he tied for fourth place in the most recent event.
LIV Golf is heading to the Chicago area (Rich Harvest Farms) this coming weekend for its fifth of seven tournaments this season. LIV released the field, with no new defectors from other tours joining the nascent tour at this event.
While this might result in less PR fanfare for LIV, it means that our ranking system could see some additional movement as a result, with a more solidified field jockeying for positioning on this list.
We’ll watch with bated breath how this weekend unfolds and continue to update this ranking throughout the year.
