Aaron Wise is coming off one of his best seasons and returns to a site of a lot of high finishes this week.

The 26-year-old finished the 2021-22 PGA Tour campaign 13th in the FedEx Cup. Wise was unable to pick up his second career win, but he finished solo second against a strong field at the Memorial Tournament and racked up four top-10s.

One of them came at the 2021 Shriners Children’s Open where he shot 68-62-71-66 to finish T-8th. It was his best result at TPC Summerlin where he’s made four of six cuts with two top-10s and three top-15s.

Last year, Wise was seventh in the field in total strokes gained tee to green (7.153) and he gained more than four shots in that category on Friday and Sunday.

“Out here you know you’re going to have to make a bunch of birdies,” Wise was transcribed by ASAP Sports in 2021, “it’s kind of a shoot-out.”

The former Oregon Duck ranked 21st on the PGA Tour last season with 4.07 birdies per round. Wise was also 21st in SG per round (1.053) and gained strokes in every category.

He was one of the top options who missed out on receiving a captain’s pick for the American side at the Presidents Cup. Wise can’t feel too slighted, but he’s got the potential to make Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup teams in the future if he keeps up his 2022 form.

This is Wise’s first event of the season.
