We know that LIV Golf and its field were truly excited to begin this new chapter of the sport; regardless of the fact that they were immediately met with frustration by a variety of roadblocks.

One of these roadblocks included being removed from the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), as the Tour was not granted acceptance into the prestigious rankings.

Now it appears as though LIV Golf may have found a loophole.

Recently, LIV Golf signed a strategic partnership with MENA Golf, a lesser-known Tour based out of the Middle East and North Africa. This action would allow LIV Golf players to participate on both Tours, and essentially, be once again eligible for OWGR points.

It’s clear that both sides are excited about the new relationship and understand the true nature of this agreement. MENA Golf spoke on the matter saying:

"“this alliance will boost the MENA Tour’s development programs and immediately qualify LIV Golf for OWGR points, starting with the LIV Golf Thailand event at Stonehill this week.”"

LIV GOLF President and COO, Atul Khosla, added:

"“We are taking this mutually beneficial action to support the game at the developmental level and because of the importance and fairness of LIV golfers qualifying for OWGR points. We’re pleased to create pathways that give more opportunities for young players, while also giving fans rankings that include all the world’s best golfers.”"

Further emphasizing the importance of its players being included in the OWGR.

LIV Golf plans hit a snag?

A recent statement by the OWGR notified LIV Golf that there was ‘insufficient notice’ of the partnership, and until this issue is finalized in a timely manner, LIV Golf will remain on the outside looking in.

It seems as though LIV Golf’s event in Bangkok will not have the impact on golf that they were hoping for. Another tough blow to the new Tour.

It has certainly been a rough couple of weeks for Greg Norman and Co. The Presidents Cup was a huge success for the PGA Tour, and Norman did not have any success when speaking with Congress recently.

One Tennessee Congressman, Tim Burchett, certainly did not hold back when speaking about his meeting with Greg Norman about LIV.

"“It shouldn’t be taking up our time. We’re a conservative organization, and we ought to be dealing with what we’ve got to deal with in our country, not with—worried about a bunch of Saudis, a bunch of billionaire oil people, are dealing with.”"

It’s clear that LIV Golf is pulling out all of the tricks in order to gain true respect across the golfing world.

Even though it has not gone according to plan for Norman’s bunch, his perseverance is clearly evident and he is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. This is just another block in the road; and Norman will be hopeful that things will break their way soon enough.
